The first safety razor is believed to have been invented in the late 18th century by a Frenchman named Jean-Jacques Perret, and a similar model was also made in Sheffield, England in the 1820s.
In 1901, US inventors King Camp Gillette and William Nickerson invented a safety razor with disposable blades. Gillette’s brand proved remarkably popular, with sales reaching 90,000 razors and 123,000 blades by 1904.
In 1965 Wilkinson Sword sneaked ahead of Gillette in the market by switching from easily-rusting carbon steel blades to stainless steel, allowing for much more usage. Gillette then had to follow suit.
The razor changed again in the early 1970s with the introduction of replaceable blade cartridges. Gillette then brought out its first double-edged blade in cartridge form. Meanwhile, Bic entered the market in 1974 with the fully disposable razor.
At the turn of the millennium, Gillette introduced the triple blade cartridge, sparking the “blade wars” to bring out the razor with the most blades: hence the Schick Quattro and now the five-blade Fusion.

I’d had this Twitter account for ages, practically from when Twitter first started out. I’d send out Tweets and it was like shouting into a black hole. From what I could see everyone was doing the same thing. I left it alone and put any kind of social media to bed.
A couple of years later, a friend persuaded me to get on Facebook. I’d read a number of times that Twitter was pointless and Facebook is the place to be and every business should be. I quickly got into that and found an established group of friends. It was fairly easy and I managed to set up two Facebook Pages.
A few months ago I picked up my original Twitter account and set up a corporate one Goodfelladotcom. A quick search that day on the Goodfella double edged safety razor pointed to a tweet that very minute from noozealand recommending the Goodfella to someone. I saw that had been happening regularly and quickly realized that Twitter is the most powerful social network. I could instantly see and learn from noozealand how he was able to engage his follower with addictive, authoritative and personal tweets all in one day. This guy has real skills in communication and network building. I’m not too sure what he does for a living, maybe he doesn’t have to work because he appears to be all over the city on any given day.
I’m beginning to get distracted now, that’s the Twitter plug. I find it superior to Facebook in every way. You can have a direct conversation with anyone on any subject you happen to choose. I’m not saying it always works but put out a tweet and someone might just answer.
As for noozealand you should follow this guy he always finds time to talk to you and you never know he might just help you grow your customers and write a really nice blog about your products.

Men’s skin care in now a multi billion dollar business around the globe and the range of products is becoming overwhelming. On a monthly basis there seems to be a new range of products released onto the market. All of them claim to have the latest innovative ingredients to help you improve the daily shave, improve skin condition and reduce wrinkles.
You are sold the emotional benefits that come with these products and why wouldn’t you spend a little time caring and protecting your skin? After all you are about to drag a very sharp blade across your face so would you not want to protect your raw skin?
Take a read of the ingredients labels to find out what is really in these products. You will see a vast range of chemicals, even on the products designed for sensitive skin you will find a list containing carcinogenics. When these chemicals are combined with the stress of shaving with a multi blade razor they are inclined to cause more damage than benefit. Skin reacts when saturated with the additives and chemicals that are so commonplace in these products so skin irritations and inflammation is quite common and to lesser extent, a razor rash of small dots around the hair follicles is left. In both cases, this can be quite uncomfortable as well as being unsightly.
Two New Zealand companies are addressing this issue by producing shaving products using natural ingredients. Mixx Limited has created the Primal Earth range of shaving gels and moisturisers. They use certified organic, plant based, wild or locally harvested raw materials in the manufacturing of their products. With ingredients such as Mamuku fern extract to lubricate, Harakeke flax oil to heal and protect and Aloe Vera to hydrate. Kiwishaver Limited produce the Goodfella shaving soap and aftershave balm both are hand made from natural ingredients and essential oils. The rich oils contained in the soap won’t dry your skin but will leave your face mosturised and feeling in great condition. Goodfella’s aftershave balm is naturally preserved with Manuka honey.
Both companies uses Harakeke, the New Zealand Flax, the extract of this plant has many beneficial properties including anti bacterial, anti inflammatory, anti acne, skin softening and healing. With these natural shaving products readily available and inexpensive to purchase there is simply no need to subject your skin to chemicals when we are not sure they are very good for you.

Red Bull must be the most popular energy drink in the world and has been backed up by massive marketing campaigns. The brand has been aggressively promoted within its target markets around the slogan “Red Bull gives you wings”. Look at any extreme sports or news event and chances are you will find the Red Bull logo somewhere in the background or on the equipment used. The range of endorsements is huge starting at a local skateboard park event, through music festivals, to running its own sports teams.
However this year things are about to change. Feeling thirsty I called into my local dairy to acquire a drink. Trawling through the chiller shelves I came across some serious competition in the form of two new energy drinks, Miss Helen’s Massive Melons and Big Cock. These two are now potential game breakers bursting into the energy drinks market. I can’t tell you what they taste of, I opted for a can of V, hey it’s New Zealand made. Going through the branding exercise, I met the guy who dreamed up the name V. He was out of my budget but I always wondered what letter would he have chosen for my razor? But I digress, almost weekly there’s a new energy drink out there chasing a chunk of the market from Red Bull.
Bigger cans, stronger brews, magical ingredients, outlandish names. There’s obviously plenty of money to be made is you can claim a small percentage of the market. I feel that everyone is chasing the same customer. There’s a huge untapped market of pensioners who could benefit with a boost. How about a drink containing Viagra? V for pensioners, oh wait maybe that’s a Big Cock.

Alternatively you can use a single bladed safety razor and all natural shaving products
I came across the Shaving Detective on Twitter and found that ShavingDetective.com was run by Hans in Copenhagen, Denmark. He has tried out the Goodfella Safety Razor and has written a comprehensive review and posted it on his blog. Fortunately for us westerners his blog is not in Hans’s native tongue but is written in perfect English. Click on the link to check out the Shaving Detective review.

Just over a year ago I did a product swap with a couple of guys at Cactus Climbing Equipment, I really liked their urban styled hooded jackets. The full name is the WK Hooded Jacket, not a sexy title but I spent last winter trawling the streets of Auckland where the jacket didn’t look out of place in the fashionable streets of Newmarket and High Street and it kept me warm and dry every Saturday morning on the sideline whist my son played football.
Cactus clothing is actually built for the outdoors lifestyle. So last weekend I was finally able to abused my jacket by rolling around in the snow of Mount Ruapehu. It appears that no matter what you throw at this garment it will stand up to anything. Confidence comes from Cactus too, if the jacket gets holed then they will patch it for free. Back in Auckland the jacket just looks the same as the day it arrived.
Crafted from 12 oz polycotton canvas, with a water proof coating, and lined with polyester microfleece I was kept warm and dry on the Mountain. Fact is I was too hot and could have probably gotten away with just a t shirt underneath.
No matter what your activity, what your location, you are going to look great whilst keeping warm and dry in this New Zealand designed and built jacket. Take a look at their website to view the full range of Cactus products they ship worldwide too.

Purchase this US$25million super yacht and you’ll get the ultimate gift a free luxury supercar that can be stored on board in its own garage at the stern of the ship. Boasting four large double bedrooms, a reception area, salon, 52 inch LED TVS in every room and an art deco interior – it’s not a bad way to entertain guests whilst traveling up to top speeds of 43 knots – or if you’re inclined to upgrade to the optional Rolls Royce KaMeWa boosters – you can achieve speeds of up to 55 knots.
The super car – ever ready for a Bond-like get away is powered by a 880hp twin V12 engine and can reach a top speed of 512 kilometers per hour. Kurt Strand, the founder of Swedish company Strand Craft, who heads up the team behind this boat says he’s had interest from all over the world but particularly from the Middle East. ‘It was designed for luxury and for people who want the best. It has a very futuristic design and nothing like this has ever been made before. It even has bulletproof windows.’
Strand Craft is only producing six of these boats – and with prospective buyers already lined up, it seems the market for fast boats and ever faster cars is a good market to be in.

“Here at SuperForest we have a great love for heirloom quality objects and tools. “Heirloom Quality” means that once you buy something you could conceivably use it your whole life long, then pass it on to your heirs, who pass it on to their heirs, who pass it on… etc. etc.
The Goodfellas Chrome Safety Razor is just such a thing!………”
